Team Arby's - 3 people

This was a UX project done for a class! We needed to take an existing mobile game concept and create a medium-fidelity Figma prototype. I worked on the shop screens and inventory screens.

January 2024 - April 2024

Step - by - Step

Step 1: Read the GDD

The first step was to read over a provided Game Design Document for a fictional game called "Chain of Jewels."

Step 2: research

My team sent out a survey for mobile game players and ended up getting a lot of responses from people who were in the 50 - 60 age bracket

Step 3: Changes?

Our team was allowed to make changes based on audience research. We decided to change the action RPG mobile game into an RPG word game. We also renamed it to "Crown of Jewels."

Step 4: Mindmap

Now it was time to use the Game Design Document to create a Mindmap. I worked on the shop tab which included the Word Smith, the Jeweler, and the Letter Dealer.

Step 5: Medium Fidelity

Then we used the mindmap to create a medium-fidelity prototype. Again, I was in charge of the shop section. I also worked on the inventory and jewel-equip screen.

Step 6: High Fidelity

Finally, I used my prototyped screens to create a color palette and a higher-fidelity prototype.

Reflection:

Building UI based on an already existing concept was a challenge but it was an advantageous learning experience as well. I learned how to break down a complicated idea so that I could understand it and organize it in a way that others could understand.

I do wish that I had paid attention to the consistency of my font size more. I find that my teammates and I didn't decide on how big or small a font could be. So, there are a lot of different sizes in our different prototypes.
